Position Summary
Leads the design and engineering of HVAC plumbing, and piping systems across new construction, design-build, and renovation projects. Acts as the senior technical resource on assigned projects, guiding design decisions from concept through construction administration, fabrication, and commissioning. Mentors less experienced engineers on the team.
Key Responsibilities
Develop conceptual and detailed system designs for assigned projects, from early concept through final construction documents
Represent engineering at project design coordination meetings as the senior technical lead
Produce advanced preliminary design layouts and redlines to support estimating and proposal efforts
Perform advanced engineering calculations, including heating/cooling load analysis, equipment sizing and selection, friction loss, and hydraulic calculations
Coordinate with fabrication shop (鈥渄esign for fabrication鈥�) to incorporate modular concepts into the design
Conduct site visits and field inspections to verify compliance with construction documents and resolve design issues that arise during construction
Provide technical oversight and mentorship to less-experienced engineers and designers on HVAC, plumbing, and piping system design and documentation
Support proposal development and budgetary/technical scoping for pursuits
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Professional Engineer (PE) license required or in process
8+ years of mechanical design experience, including experience leading design efforts
Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and piping, plus a solid understanding of overall building system operations
Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical and plumbing construction documents
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of staff, clients, and general contractors
Strong presentation and public-speaking skills
Proficiency with CAD/BIM tools and Microsoft Office (including Excel)
Preferred Qualifications
Design-build or mechanical contractor project delivery experience
Experience with Revit MEP and BIM coordination workflows
LEED or CEM credential

Position Summary
Leads the project team on the design side of the business once a contract is awarded, managing all aspects of a project's design in coordination with owners, engineers, and architects. Balances the financial and risk-reporting needs of DSI leadership with strong, ongoing client relationships throughout the design phase.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain positive, ongoing relationships with internal teams and external clients and their representatives
Maintain a thorough working understanding of the owner contract and any client master service agreements
Own overall execution of the contract's design-phase obligations
Monitor scope changes closely and communicates cost/schedule impacts to the client in a timely manner
Provide leadership to the project team once a contract is awarded
Ensure DSI's project procedures, tools, and standards are followed throughout the design effort
Develop the project-specific execution plan, communicate it to the team, and update it as project conditions change
Clearly communicate baseline scope of work to the project team and keep the team current on approved change orders
Own, manage, and communicate the project design schedule, ensuring adequate time for QA and client review cycles
Identify and escalate potential project risks to engineering leadership
Partner with project accounting to keep budgets, forecasts, billings, and receivables current
Prepare project status reports and lead monthly reviews covering financial forecasts, revenue/margin projections, staffing, client relationship health, and overall project status
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
4鈥�5 years of relevant project management or design-phase experience
Strong knowledge of project controls, including change management, fee/cost estimating, schedule development, and forecasting (manpower and cost)
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, clients, and general contractors
Ability to read and understand construction documents across trades
Solid business writing and public speaking skills
Working proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
Strong knowledge of the mechanical/engineering industry
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) or Lean Project Delivery methods
Experience with project accounting/ERP systems (e.g., Vista, COINS, or similar)
